For a patio or pool deck in full desert sun, our warm cream-buff Lueders limestone is the first recommendation, and the reason is physics: a pale surface reflects sunlight instead of storing it, so it stays markedly cooler on bare feet than a dark paver. Where bluestone still belongs.
Bluestone doesn't disappear in Phoenix — it moves to the shade. In a covered patio, a courtyard, or a north-facing surround, thermal bluestone's cool blue-grey and sure-footed texture are a pleasure, and out of direct sun the temperature question softens. The rule of thumb: cream Lueders for the open, exposed areas; bluestone where there's shade to work with.
